Where We Started

The printing supply industry has a massive waste problem. Every year, hundreds of millions of toner and ink cartridges are manufactured, used once, and discarded. The vast majority end up in landfills, where they'll sit for centuries. We looked at this reality and asked a simple question: what if we could close the loop?

Our founding commitment was straightforward: build a business model where every cartridge we sell contributes to reducing waste rather than creating it. That meant centering our entire operation around remanufactured products and circular supply chain principles.

Building a Circular Supply Chain

A zero-waste operation starts with how you source materials. Instead of purchasing newly manufactured cartridges from overseas factories, we built a system to collect, sort, and remanufacture used OEM cartridge shells. Here's how our supply chain works:

1. Collection: We partner with businesses, schools, and recycling programs to collect empty OEM cartridges
2. Sorting and inspection: Every cartridge is inspected to determine if it's suitable for remanufacturing
3. Disassembly: Cartridges are completely taken apart, cleaned, and evaluated component by component
4. Rebuilding: Worn components are replaced with new parts, and fresh toner powder is added
5. Testing: Every rebuilt cartridge is tested for print quality, page yield, and reliability
6. Delivery: Finished cartridges ship in recyclable packaging with a prepaid return label for the next cycle

Measuring Our Carbon Footprint

You can't reduce what you don't measure. We conducted a comprehensive carbon audit of our operations, tracking emissions across four categories:

Manufacturing Emissions

Remanufacturing a cartridge produces 50-70% fewer carbon emissions than manufacturing a new one. By choosing remanufacturing over new production, we avoid thousands of tons of CO2 annually. The biggest savings come from not needing to produce new plastic housings, which is the most energy-intensive part of cartridge manufacturing.

Transportation Emissions

Because we source empty cartridges domestically and remanufacture locally, our supply chain covers a fraction of the distance that OEM cartridges travel. A new OEM cartridge might travel 8,000+ miles from factory to customer. Our remanufactured cartridges typically travel under 1,000 miles.

Packaging and Waste

We've transitioned to 100% recyclable packaging materials and eliminated single-use plastics from our shipping process. Our packaging uses recycled cardboard, paper-based cushioning, and soy-based inks. Every box includes a prepaid return label so customers can send back their empty cartridges at no cost.

Facility Operations

Our facilities use energy-efficient equipment, LED lighting, and waste-minimization practices. Components that can't be reused in cartridges are separated by material type and sent to specialized recyclers rather than landfills.
